Course Overview and Target audience:
This course is designed for surgeons, integrated health personnel, program administrators, practice managers, and program billers/coders and will provide information on considerations that may impact reimbursement for bariatric providers. It focuses on a multitude of areas that are relevant to reimbursement and will deliver strategies and tips to assist with managing this complex issue. 

Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss the impact of healthcare reform on reimbursement
  • Identify effective strategies for managed care contracting
  • Discuss bariatric surgery billing and coding considerations, use of physician extenders, and aftercare considerations
  • Provide an overview of revenue cycle management
  • Discuss effective management of claim denials

Maintenance of Certification:
For bariatric surgeons, Integrated Health, Program Administrators, Practice Managers, and Program Billers/coders, this event will provide CME in their specific specialty to comply with Maintenance of Certification (MOC) in the following areas:  (1) Interpersonal and Communication skills, (2) Professionalism, (3) Practice-Based Learning and Improvement, (4) Systems-based practice.
