Course Overview and Target Audience:
The session provides a format for students, residents or fellows to present the research that was submitted for oral presentation in the Plenary Session but not accepted.  A reviewer for each paper has been arranged to facilitate discussion and provide objective and constructive critique to the student/resident/fellow presenter. The second half of this course will be presented in an Answer/Question-type format that mirrors the popular game show “Jeopardy”.

Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Describe study methodology in bariatric surgical research
  • Define acceptable patient follow-up
  • Discuss resolution of comorbidities as research outcomes and endpoints.
  • Identify the need for consistency of surgical technique in bariatric research

Maintenance of Certification:

For bariatric surgeons, surgeons new to the field of bariatric surgery, and primary clinicians, this event will provide CME in their specific specialty to comply with Maintenance of Certification (MOC) in the following areas:  (1) Patient Care, (2) Medical Knowledge,  and (3) Practice-Based Learning and Improvement.
